Pop star Jonas and Game of Thrones actor Turner starting dating in 2016 and tied the knot in a Vegas-style wedding in 2019. A second ceremony in the south of France was attended by friends and family soon after. They have two children together, a daughter called Willa and another daughter whose name hasn’t been released to the public.
But after a whirlwind romance and marriage, Joe Jonas is reported to have filed divorce documents at Miami-Dade County Court in Florida at the start of September 2023. The 34-year-old cited that the “"the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken" in the filing.
The news of the divorce filing caused much speculation in the press and on social media. Some reports claimed that Jonas and Turner had incompatible lifestyles, with one preferring to stay at home while the other enjoyed partying.
In another more unusual report, it was claimed that the US music star Jonas had seen something on the couple’s doorbell camera that led him to believe the marriage was over. However, the details of this alleged occurrence have not been released nor has Jonas confirmed or denied the story.
All of the rumours swirling around the separation led to the couple releasing a joint statement. Posted to each of the pair’s Instagram accounts, the statement read:
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Children and money matters
According to the divorce filing, Jonas is seeking joint custody of the couple’s two young daughters following the separation. There is also said to be a prenuptial agreement, which the singer is expecting to be enforced.
UK born Sophie Turner, 27, is most famous for her role as Sansa Stark in the mega hit HBO TV series Game of Thrones. She has also starred as Jean Grey in two X-Men films, X-Men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Joe Jonas is one of three Jonas brothers, along with Nick and Kevin Jonas. Together, the Jonas Brothers have starred in their own Disney Channel series and released multiple hit singles. They’re currently on a tour of US stadiums, with Joe Jonas being photographed on stage both with and without his wedding ring. Jonas has also performed and released singles as a solo artist.
